BenNelson's Vectrix electric scooter repair - nimh to lithium conversion

I caught up with Ben at an alternative energy car show yesterday and talked with him a while. He has been real busy with some other things and didn't have time to post this up. But, I don't want us to miss out on it, so I'm going to post his videos up of his Vectrix electric scooter fix. This is a full size scooter/motorcycle capable of freeway travel, not your 50cc scooter equivalent. He got this scooter with a 'dead' nimh pack and goes through all the steps of rehabbing the nimh and then converting it to lithium with Nissan Leaf cells.

So, here is part 1:

Cool idea. I have a 2004 Bajaj Chetak, gasoline powered, that I have day-dreamed about converting. Building an electric bike for now (baby steps in learning about systems).

My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

Sounds like a cool project. You should definitely post a build thread. I know I'd be interested in it.

Here is the next video in Ben's Vectrix series:
