No Gas Day

I received a message on Facebook that March 31st is "No Gas Day". Is anyone aware of where this is coming from and if it is effective at all?

It just means they'll sell more gas on March 30th and April Fool day.

There is an empty streets day June 5th, asking people not to drive at all for that day, that has alot more affect then not buying gas for a single day, asking people to leave their car parked all on a single day tends to get people thinking about leaving it parked more often and that really does have a long term affect.

No Gas Day continued discussion

I rarely buy Gas on Sunday so that works for me. Thanks for the tip on June 5th. I will walk, ride a bike and/or a horse. I will encourage others to do the same!

Agreed... designating a single day as "no gas day" is pointless. A "no gas week" or a "no gas month" would be interesting however, though I certainly wouldn't expect many participants in either.

I'd like to see a "no idling day" or a "no autostart day" or a "no PU/SUV day" and see how many deaths that causes.

The one I've seen is for the 10th. Stupidest "strike" ever.

A) It's a boycott
B) It only hurts local business owners (See what happened to BP stations)
C) A single day of a handful of people mean nothing
D) I'll be gassing up the Grand Cherokee for my trip back to Houston tomorrow. I'll protest the boycotters?

[...] But the man who creates the music is hearing something else, is dealing with the roar rising from the void and imposing order on it as it hits the air. What is evoked in him, then, is of another order, more terrible because it has no words, and triumphant, too, for the same reason. And his triumph, when he triumphs, is ours." -Sonny's Blues
