Removable Grill block

In 1990 I had a new Ford F150 that I purchased grill blocks for use in the winter.

I purchased these through Canadian Tire but can't find the name of the manufacturer. They were a great product as they were a flat pieces of hard plastic contoured to fit the grill openings with basically U shaped pieces of plastic behind them. Each leg of the U shape had a tiny lip on the end.

You simply compressed the U shape slighty to allow them to go through the grill opening. When it sprang back from the tension, plus the lip, it was held firmly in place.

It allowed you to easily install and \or remove if overheating.

It was a good design people might want to replicate .

I think I just found them
They are called LUND COLDFRONT WINTER GRILLE INSERTS

Lund COLDFRONT WINTER GRILLE INSERTS - JCWhitney

But another sites indicates they are no longer made

Lund Grille Insert: Lund Grill, Lund Cold Front Winter Grille, Bolt Over Grill, Chevy Grill, Dodge Grill, Ford Grill, Truck Grill Cover

The last site seems to indicate these were only ever produced for trucks etc,

This site shows a good picture of them and you can see how the clips are constructed

Been looking for these for my 2005 dakota... seems like they aren't made by ANYONE, especially not for my truck... so sad.

If you there's a fiberglass shop in your area, especially the ones who say they can do custom work, ask them to try and make a one for your Dakota. Just bring a print photo of the sample and they'll take it from there.

Dunno if there is one or not, but I've laid glass myself before. Removable would be really nice since when I tow my camper, the less time getting ready the better!

I gotta design some stuff now...(goes into his secret lair)
