sign shop or plastic company and about 11-12 bucks for a 4x8 sheet, if I remember right

I went to Lowe's they didn't know what it was. I pointed to a box made of it. They gave me boxes free.

Depending on where you are, try also a reprographics (formerly called a blueprint shop) house such as Ridgeways... they will have it and other products like it.

I'm a Manufacturing Engineer, and believe it or not, I've never heard of this stuff!

Even in college while taking my Composites class, it never came up.

So my question is, why does this seem to be the material of choice?

Why not fiberglass, for example? Cost, workability, availability....?

Local glass suppliers (window glass) may have it

i have a sign shop about 8 minutes from my house, so i'ma going to try them

Mine cost a bit more, but I ordered it special. $30 for a 4'x8' sheet of black coroplast.

Jon M, coroplast is ideal because of its corrosion resistance, durability, lightweight, and its easy to work with. You can't really ask for more than that. :)

Check out the Coroplast site... it's pretty self-explanatory.

I've got an RC airplane made out of the stuff and I'm a really bad pilot (term used loosely). It's virtually indestructable.

malibuguy 06-21-2008 09:19 AM

well, i got a 5X10 sheet of it in black...costed me

58.30!!! i thought this stuff was inexpensive?

it better get me over that 40mpg mark ;)

Depends on how you get it. Order a custom-color sheet from a store, it costs. Get used boxes/campaign signs, it doesn't.

Arf. Guess I got reamed for $38 for a 4x8' sheet at a sign shop. Gotta find a cheaper sign shop.

My local sign shop wanted a buck per square foot for special order 'plast. It seemed reasonable to me, $12 for a 6' by 2' black sheet, enough for an air dam and grill block parts.

metroschultz 06-22-2008 11:49 AM

I didn't go to a sign shop.
I went to a sign supply store.
Maybe there is a difference some way, shape, or form.
My 4' x 8' white was $11.00
My 4' x 8' black was $15.00
I looked under plastic suppliers to find the sign guys.

The girl behind the counter was a little interested the first time I went in, The second time she asked me to give her a price to streemline her Buick.
Maybe another convert?
