413 miles 9.7 gallons, for 42.5 mpg time 11.9 gallon tank is 505 miles woot. No aero mods, only a kill switch and lots of EOC, DWL, DW/oB. Only one tank but I installed the kill swich 100 miles into the tank. I am looking forward to doing a grill block and Kammi back to see how things go.

We finally moved in from the bush sold the Suzuki samurai and am using the civic full time now. I will be driving more here but hopefully the better millage from the civic will mitigate it.

Over the last couple months I have been traveling and driving my sisters new chevy cobalt with an MPG readout, and a couple of new Focus (focui?) with a MPG bar graph.

Excellent opportunity to teach myself how to drive more better. I was getting high 30s in the cobalt and focuses. using DWL and on the automatic cars by lifting the foot to force an upshift.

I've found watching the current MPG readings to be a huge help in adjusting the nut. Too bad the 95 Civic didn't come with that. I have a 95 Civic EX that I'm trying to sell or I'd get an MPGuino for it. Mine has the auto trans, and it's harder to control than the auto in my minivan, but it gets much better mileage anyway. I'm not a fan of EOC with an automatic because you can't do a kick start, but the van has DFOC and that helps me when I do what I call "pulse and glide lite" with the engine on and tranny in gear. I don't know if the Civic has DFOC.

...but it also reminded me of something I read many, many, many years ago about "how gas tanks" were "sized" -- basically (as I recall) it started with an assumed driving time of 8 hours at an "average" speed of 50 mph, which produced a "range" of 400 miles per tank.

...thus, tanks were "sized" for the middle-sized engine to meet that goal of 400 mile range. Of course, with a smaller, thriftier engine, the range was better; but, likewise, when a bigger, thirstier engine was installed the range was usually far less.

Makes sense as just about every car I have owned prior to trying to stretch a gallon of gas I have figured on about 400 mile tanks

With some aero mods (airdam, kammi back, and mirror redux), and a MPGuino to farther refine my technique I think I can comfortably break 500 miles before the river breaks.
