Metro Windshield replacement

Anyone have any tips for replacing a windshield in a gen 1 Geo Metro?

The Electro-Metro's windshield cracked! Right before I was starting to work on an electric car instructional video!

I can buy a used windshield from the salvage yard for less than half what a new one from the auto folks would charge, but I have to install it myself.

I've never done this before! All advice welcome!

-Ben

1) Find the nearest tech school with an auto body program
2) Let them do it

Call Safelite and have them do it for you. Tempered glass can easily crack and leave you back at square 1. My dad and I failed miserably when trying to remove a pane from a parts car we had on hand. If we actually had to buy it, we would have had to still pay to get it done. It only cost around $100 and they came to my house and fixed it.

I will say I've done several windshields on vehicles where the glass is held in by rubber gasket. But the glue-in ones... I've not worked up the ambition to get/make the cutting tools, etc. When you can find a place that does it for nearly free (I bought the glue and an extra tube for the school) why not?
