Cousins?

When possible, I've been parking away from the crowd, in hope that my "new" Insight won't get hit or scuffed up. So look what parked jay on the other side of "my" light pole: a Honda CRZ hybrid.

Wife would not approve. But it's an autotragic transmission; maybe a woman does indeed drive it.

Somehow, Honda managed to add almost 1000lbs to that car while not giving it any more utility. It's a bit faster, but not really all that much, and returns nowhere near the same fuel economy. In my humble opinion the G1 handles better too, all else being equal (tires).

I do like the CR-Z's seats a bit better.

It's interesting that the same company put out two vehicles that look so similar, but are so different. A shame they couldn't decide whether to make it fast or efficient, and settled on neither. I bet it would sell much better if they would pick one.

Congrats on your new car. And good luck parking out in the middle of nowhere. Years ago, I parked a new car out there and had a B#### park her old 71 Ford 2 door next to mine and open her car door into the side of my new car. Then I remembered what keys are for!.

It doesn't matter where I park someone has to park next to me, not sure if they just want to ding my door or what the deal is.

Both are so very cool looking. The CRZ is a shark. And both sold so terribly that I have not felt comfortable when considering buying one because... parts expensive and little available.

my thoughts too. haha

Both were made in homage of the CRX and thus resemble that. sadly the CRX was lighter still, faster, and equal to better MPG. Oh how I miss mine.
Honda could not decide if the CRZ was an eco car or a sporty car and manged to make it neither.

mcrews 04-01-2016 10:46 AM

when the crx came out I vaguely remember some statistic that it had a better power to weight ratio than (here's where I forget) some Ferrari at the time.

A friend had one, I drove it once, it was fun!!!

Ecky 04-01-2016 11:00 AM

Wouldn't surprise me. 150-160HP in a 2100lb car was pretty zippy for the late 80's, 0-60 was just under 7 seconds. I could see that overlapping with some of the slower Ferrari's.

Funny seeing a 16 year old Honda parked in 4 spaces like it's a Ferrari. I don't see too many door dings in Oregon or Washington. Maybe people have more respect for others property in some areas compared to others?

I am not sure what happened to my Civic before I purchased her, but they do not look like they are from any car door I have ever seen, while two people backed into the corner of the bumper.

I love my car, but I park in the closest spot I can pull through. It works well so far.

brucepick 04-05-2016 02:40 PM

All my life I've parked wherever convenient - and in recent years, wherever was easy to get at so I didn't waste gas at 5 mpg cruising the parking lot.

The only reason I was able to buy the Insight was that someone backed into my Accord. He was very decent about it, as was his insurance company. The damages settlement paid for nearly 1/2 of the Insight. I claim to have learned from experience.

I plan to sell the Accord pretty much as is, as soon as I have time to deal with it. Ever since I acquired Outasight, I've been getting her squared up and doing some basic mods, all in prep for the Green Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, ten days from today.

Honda could have done so much of a better job with the CRZ, but they prefered to follow the wannabe-racer bandwagon instead of going for an efficiency-oriented project closer to the philosophy that guided the early Insight. Anyway, making something as simple and efficient as an early CRX while having to deal with recent regulations would be a PITA...
