Covering front tow hook openings on PU

I'm looking for ideas on covering up the openings in the front of my truck.

Right now I don't even know if I want to keep the tow hooks because I don't go off road and don't expect to be stuck knee deep in mud. So removal is an option on the table.

Removal of the tow hooks sure would make things more simple. If kept in place, I've thought of sealing the hole with sponges form the dollar store and glassing around the area. Then I would just pull and pluck the sponge off the back, keeping the tow hooks sticking out.

Here is an image of the openings in question.

On the non 4x4 pick-up trucks these openings are vented grille openings. I really do not think that I need to let the extra air in for any cooling reasons.

I'm open to suggestion.

Removing them would definitely make things easier. You could probably use some coroplast and make a couple inserts that are held in place with some clear packaging tape, which would make them easy to remove if you wanted to put the hooks back on for use.

I have some black stuff laying around, good idea.

Should I Gator Tape the back side of the front license plate area while I'm at it?

I'm just noticing some gaps top and bottom.

you're splitting hairs with that. i would say if you have a way to get rid of the "pocket" for the plate it would probably help, maybe coroplast between the "bumps" that are next to the tow hooks. that "pocket" will cause a turbulaent area of air flow.

I could take the whole center piece out now that I look at it.

A rigid insulation plug glassed over could be made to fit nicely with some crushable foam weather stripping all around it.
