Cracked transmission bellhousing, how to fix?

So, I cracked the bellhousing on the Insight as I reassembled it. I was inspecting the transmission before putting it in today and found this.

I must say I'm tempted to slap some JB weld in it and call it a day. However, taking it all apart and brazing it would be a much better solution. Any thoughts?

Bummer! Nonetheless, the more durable solution is the better solution. You'll regret it if the JB Weld repair cracks, leaks, and damages the transmission.

They certainly didn't waste any weight with unnecessary extra metal, did they?

That carries the countershaft, I'm guessing? Shimmed wrong? Whatever the reason, I'd think oyu'd want to take it apart and figure out why it happened...and not mess around with a half-ass fix for something important.

I wouldn't bother trying to weld it.
Welding die cast aluminum is a crap shoot.

Worst case, I'll have a spare transmission here in about 2 months.

This is a symptom, not "the" problem...
