Craigslist will charge for car listings.

The idea seems pretty popular because it would drastically reduce scammers and some seemingly-legitimate sellers that simply post too many ads for the same car.

People may move to Facebook (or Offer Up), but neither of those have the search options that Craigslist has, and not everyone wants to use Facebook.

People also want Craigslist to charge extra when people post cars for $1, when people use keywords for Dodge Rams in a Honda Insight ads, listing automatics as manuals (which Facebook does by default), and other pet peeves.

Would dealers receive a bulk discount?

Craigslist shouldn't allow the ad to be posted until the transmission type is specified. Half the ads don't mention transmission type AND don't have photos that would clarify. It's about as useful as listing a "car" for sale.

Charge a dollar for all of them, do not allow $1 in the price field, and don't have a default transmission listing.

dealers post as owners all the time. thats my beef.

Fat Charlie 04-14-2019 07:47 PM

I hate that less than the $1 listings and the keyword jamming. If the car and the price listed are worth clicking, I'm okay if it's a dealer (even though I'm always in "by owner").

They said that everyone kept four Craigslist tabs open at all times. Someone pointed out you could sign up for notifications.

I keep deleting notifications for dealers listing the down payment--or something. If you say 2017 I say

I am not sure what else I see. Ads to fix traction batteries, something for ride sharing drivers.

I guess that I need to increase the minimum price.

I just deleted a notification for "Get on Uber and Lyft! Cars as low as $0 down! $28 a month!"

That is a car advertisement that does not advertise a car. That should not be allowed.

By the way, that is $336 a year. Is that a three-year loan on a $1,000 car or a six-year loan for a $2,000 car?

Hard for me to complain about a free service though. Craigslist has been phenomenal for just being a Bay area real estate listing service.

I'd like to see them charge though, just to keep the riffraff to a minimum.

...as David Letterman always says "you can't complain about the quality because this is a free show".

I paid something like $70 last year after doing everything with six different sites to see who did the best job.

This year I used TurboTax Free and paid fewer taxes.

I wanted to see if tax revenue was up or down compared to last year. I found this instead:
Quote:

The OMB estimates GDP will increase by 3.1% in FY 2020. That's higher than the ideal growth rate.

Revenues would be much higher without the Trump tax plan. It was also lowered by the extension of the Bush tax cuts and the Obama tax cuts.
The next page shows tax revenue per year. Every year has brought in more taxes since 2009, with 2013 having the biggest increase of $320 billion and 2018 only expanding $10 billion.

They say the economy is strong and we should increase taxes to pay off the deficit before the next recession, when we should cut taxes to stimulate growth, except the last time people paid off debt instead of spending.

How dare they?!

So, we collected fewer taxes because people paid off debts? :)

Are we discussing taxes in three different threads? :)

I try and flag even paid for dealer ads when they list the price as a monthly payment rather than the actual price. That has always been my biggest peeve. If Craigslist charges I probably won't be looking there much because I 'm looking for the killer deals, and nobody pays to put up an ad on a car that has a really good price. A sign on the windshield sells those cars, but often the owners would also throw up a free craigslist ad as well. Ironically the good scammers will probably still pay to list anyway, it won't be their credit card anyway!

I always half want to call the people listing things at $1 and say, "I'll take it!"
