On the visceral level; very cool.
Hold on a minute... Are those panniers on the front wheel? They rotate left-right with the steering? Are they sprung or unsprung? It's solo machine, right? Are those cargo tie-downs behind the seat? Or handles, for what purpose? To have something to hang on to when try to wriggle your butt free from the suction of the "bucket seat?" |

Amazing. When I looked at it I thought it was a new bike with retro-streamline looks. Even though it's classic streamline, I get this feeling that it's 2010, not 1936. CarloSW2 |
Yes, it's coolness is definitely timeless!

Probably the original inspiration for this contemporary deco design.
Arlen Ness, Smoothness Since we're in the deco streamliner period, how about a Lincoln sedan delivery and a matching Harley smooth-ster. http://www.decorides.com/decoliner_decoscoot.htm |

Along similar, but less swoopy, lines -- Teutonic? -- is this BMW R7 prototype from 1934:
http://www.bikeexif.com/wp-content/u.../02/bmw_r7.jpg A single copy was crafted in 1934 by design engineer Alfred Böning. His vision was a departure from the "bicycle with motor" design still prevalent in the 1930s. The R7 incorporated sweeping enclosed bodywork, a pressed steel frame, valanced mudguards and then-innovative telescopic front forks. More info and pix. (I first posted this to cleanmpg.com on 11/07/10) :o |
^Love it!
