Article: California May See More Than $4/Gallon Average Gasoline in Spring 08

Via GCC: California May See More Than $4/Gallon Average Gasoline in Spring 08

Quote:
Los Angeles Times. Analysts are predicting a steady increase in gasoline prices in the spring that could result in an average cost of $3.75/gallon across the US and more than $4.00/gallon in California.

Ongoing higher demand is one factor, along with persistently strong crude oil prices and the absence of the traditional December drop in pump prices.

If that situation proves true, it won't be helping the United States' current economy at all. Especially since large vehicles are still big sellers for the manufacturing industry.

A jump from $1.00 a gallon (which really wasn't that long ago there) to $4.00 is pretty intense.

meh, my neighbor still fires up her F-150 to go get the mail. It'll take more than $4 to scare people away from driving.

A family friend is a regional manager for a gas station chain/oil company.... He's told us that he has been told to prepare for $4 in the near future. I don't necessarily know what a gas station "prepares" for - maybe order extra "4's" for the marquee?

It's funny, while I was living in the bay area -- there was a closed down/abandoned gas station that had it's prices still up.... something like $1.20 for regular....

Probably to prepare for the freaking US to freak out again like in 01' where we freaked out about the rumors of $6-$8 Fuel and bought as much gas now (when gas was like 1.19 in some areas) as they could, and gas jumped to over $2 in a few days. I saw Gas Stations empty out completely on that day the Twin Towers got hit. The US will be screwed if we were attacked again, if anything screws up the normal US day then people think It's the Apocalypse or something and they do out of the norm things, run over and ram people out of the way for gas even. I'll just go buy a tank of gas calmly and go home if it ever happens, seeing it'll skyrocket whether I do or don't from people freaking out.

$4 won't scare the US, but someones gonna start a rumor that gas will be $14 soon, and.. here we go again.
