...using available technologies to improve semi-truck fuel economy by at least 50%. The SuperTruck gets 12.2 mpg with a 65,000 lb load but it is 115% better than an average rig. A hybrid equipped with an 11L diesel with an electric motor, waste heat recovery & power generation system, trailer solar panels & boattail. The latest SuperTruck concept is equipped with an AI-augmented navigation/transmission/steering system; efficient management of cresting hills and taking advantage of downhill grades. The biggest gains come from the aero design; starting with a smooth windshield, skirted wheels, truck/trailer gap filler panels, automatic grille/cooling openings and road-height adjustments.
