To De-spoof the UG battery myth!

So boys and girls I have found what what will kill your battery with the UG!

My battery is fine, so worries!

If your Throttle position sensor (TPS) does not go to zero, the UG WILL NOT SHUT OFF. My Subaru seems to hold a .41 or .39 percent throttle when cold. So when the car shuts off, the UG stays on!

So those of you with an UG, clean your throttle plate!

...better yet, have UG "fix" the problem in their software!

Well the TPS giving an input other than zero indicates the driver's foot is on the gas. So I guess maybe that is a way of saving the UG from turning off if you're doing the pulse/glide and are turn off the engine. Just need to remember to lift off the throttle before you turn the engine back over! lol

the UG??

I'm missing something, I know, and that I will laugh when the explanation comes out.

I think it's the UltraGauge ;)

OMG yup now the thread makes sense. :o

I was thinking it was something under the hood I was unaware of, which seemed unlikely:D

My SGII in my Elantra reads TPS 6 when I key-on (but before starting) as well as at idle. Does this mean I should clean out the throttle body? I don't have turn-off issues, but this thread made me curious.

I have had my ug ford disharge its battery 3 times. I find it hard to believe that the UG uses enough current to discharge the battery.

...contact them about sending it (UG) back to be "re-programmed" because supposedly, there's a software update to correct that problem (check the UG forum).
