definitions for a newb
I've been reading a bit today since signing up, and you all have a different jargon than what i'm used to (hot-rodding and wheeling).
Whats hypermilling and how do you do it? what is pulse and bump and how do you do it? any other ecomodder terms, please define in advance of me finding them. Thanks! |
Hypermiling / eco-driving / economy driving are just "wrapper" terms for driving techniques that increase fuel economy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypermiling
Hypermiling specifically means exceeding the EPA combined average of a vehicle by a certain amount, where eco-driving isn't as specific and has European origins. Pulse & glide, or burn & coast is an advanced technique where you accelerate, then kill the engine and coast in neutral. It's usually more useful at lower speeds, and done properly is more efficient than driving at the same average speed. Also note the glossary link, top right. |
I have been here a few months and i still have to referance the Glossary.
P&G / EOC / FAS / DFCO / LMNOP ( ok i made that last one up) but like any TLA or FLEA ( "three letter acronym" and "four letter extended acronyms") you get used to them in time. Steve |
It would help if people would reference the TLA ( three letter acronym) as Doofus did and it would make it a lot easier. More time consuming but easier.:)
|
that's why I put the link in my signature, because I know that I abbreviate things on accident and don't realize it, and anyone who needs to know an acronym it's right there in my post. :D
