direct cylinder injection

It was brought to my attention once more as it was thru popular mechanics in the 70's, that Texaco developed a direct cylinder injection system almost 50 yrs ago(TCCS) Texaco controled combustion system. There have been different variations worked with by different manufacturers over the yrs, and while there are some small pollution issues, the advantages far outweigh the problems. The texaco system was used on UPS trucks in the 70's.

The system allows for up to a 12:1 compression ratio to be used and an air fuel ratio of up to 40:1 . It also allows for the use of broad cut fuel or multiple fuel use.

I know at GM they have the Pontiac Solstice GXP that is GDI and the Cadillac CTS has that as an option.
