Disconnecting MPGuino to reroute wires?

Just recently installed MPGuino.
The one with three buttons on top, all preassembled except for the case and connecting cords.

Love it!

Anyway, I read some cautions about disconnecting it.
What's the best way?
I want to reroute the wire harness; I keep hitting it with my clutch foot. I threaded it through an opening in the lower dash panel and it would be good to be able to disconnect the Guino to reroute the wires.

I put a 4-pin connector in the cable, down in the lower dash area. I could pull that one apart. I also have a fuse in the 12V line, between the battery and that connector. Good idea to remove the fuse before pulling apart the 4-pin connector under the dash? The small connector at the Guino is not so easy to get at. All wrapped up in electrical tape and there's braided sheathing over the cable harness there.

the recommendation is to be deliberate when connecting or disconnecting the power. I think there were some issues with the atmega flash getting corrupted back when I still used the bootloader and power wasn't solid, but just in case...

Also you will lose your tank trip, but no biggie.
