DIY cap for box truck
4 Attachment(s)
I ended up getting a box truck and needed the extra room,
Making my own cap because I couldn't find a used fiberglass one. Made the frame out of old bed frame angle iron, With some wood screwed to it it help hold the galvanized sheet, and interior walls. Galvanized sheet is from broken washing machines. Those things are gold for free sheet metal. Need two more washing machines and it'll be all buttoned up. Tried to go as aerodynamic as I could in the time I have and balancing the extra storage/sleeping room I require. It's better than a big flat wall, so I'm happy. Sliced my hand today on that sheet, bled like crazy. But yeah, figured I'd post. http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...4&d=1499914495 http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...5&d=1499914519 http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...6&d=1499914537 http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...7&d=1499914557 |
I think the top needs to be curved, not a sharp angle. What happened to the door? :D

Those sharp corners on the leading edges, both sides and top, are a problem. They should have at least a 4 inch radius.
I like the workmanship. |
It's not done by a long shot.
The sheet is thick enough that it's going to float on the frame for the most part, and after it's skinned I'll be adding sheet metal rounded caps over any sharp edges. It's no dymaxion, but it's a work in progress. There's a nice curve across the front that will help a bunch even if the top leading edge isn't perfect. |

Killing it.
We got a bit smaller and way more brutal music. Pretty heavy grindcore. Got this truck cuz my old camper just got too tired. I miss it tho |
"We play both kinds, music and grindcore:". :)
