Do electronic battery desulfators really work?
 

I own several vehicles, and repair a lot of others. I would like to bring some weak batteries back to life.

Does anyone have any experience with electronic battery desulfators?

Especially one called the Battery Life Saver, supposedly it's one of the best?

I have had some batteries that came back and some did not...

Battery desulfators will desulfate batteries. Weather you have a sulfation problem or not is another question. Sulfation occurs when lead acid battery voltage is below fully charged basically.

I have had good luck with devices like this and with batteries that have desulphators built in to them.

I bought a couple several months ago and have had similar results as stated above. They fix desulphation- but real problems(shorts, etc...) can't be fixed.... I don't know of the particular model the op showed- but many have great features(short protection, polarity protection, autoshutoff, etc...). Great devices- mine have easily paid for themselves with many car batteries and motorcycle batteries....

I use them and they work, but are mostly useful for batteries used in deep cycle operation, such as electric vehicles, off grid homes (where I use them) and boats, etc. They don't help much for internal combustion automobile batteries that are mostly used for starting and are usually keep close to full charge.

I got one called the smart charger. It will tell you what is wrong with the battery.
