Chrysler's first EV? Nuh-uh.

This $120,000 electric minivan was the company's first (and likely last) commercially available EV :)

Or did you mean first to go into production of the 3 concepts they've recently shown?

Nuh uh!

I don't think Chrysler is seriously making plans for EV's. They're too occupied with desperately trying to escape bankruptcy (not to mention scrounging in the couch cushions for enough money to meet payroll) to be spending money on an extremely low-volume, loss leader EV program.

Call me a cynic, but I don't believe this car is anything more than a shameless public relations effort to manufacture some "green" cred, and show decision makers (ie. politicians they're hoping will bail them out of trouble with taxpayer dough) that if they're just given one more chance they can be innovative too.

I'd agree completely Darin. Where were these EVs (theres been a few from Chrysler lately) even a year ago?

I had a chance to sit in the mini van EV that they made, it wasn't that bad for a mini van, alot of batteries tho, and that was part of why I was in it, the batteries were long gone and we were towing it around to get it out of the way.

Isn't this JUST like an american auto company to do the EXACT SAME THING with a different name and pass it off as different... Yeah... thanks... we ALREADY have a lotus with some batteries in it... It isn't selling or making money... can we move on with life and try something new?

This is nothing but "green press". Every company in the world with a few marketting dollars seems to suddenly be the environment's best friend. Even my f'ing bank machine has an advertisement on it saying that it is powered with renewable energy (bullpoop, it is hooked up to the same power the rest of the bank is, they just invested a few dollars in some panels somewhere to say they are green)

Chrysler may have had EV's before the 1993 to 1995 TEVan, but it wasn't a GEM car. They didn't buy GEM until 2000.

GEM may well be their last (though, I expect that part of the company would get spun off).

So, apparently we're all wrong! :D The Dodge Circuit WON'T be the next Chrysler EV. And their TEVan minivan wasn't the last.
