Does anyone know the ratios for Metro/Swift automatic transmissions?

I keep seeing talk about the manual transmission ratios in manual Swifts and Metros (3cyl and 4cyl) from various years. However, I'm having trouble finding a list of automatic transmission gear and final drive ratios.

I'm just trying to get an idea of how fast an automatic Metro engine would turn on the highway.

Oh, I found some information, but I still don't know the final drive ratios. I also don't have any info on any automatic Metros other than a '97 I4.

From GM website: 1997 Geo Metro

For 1997:
TRANSMISSIONS
5-speed manual 5-speed manual 3-speed
w/ overdrive w/overdrive automatic
(1.0L L4 engine) (1.3L L4 engine) (1.3L L4 engine)
Gear Ratios 1st 3.42 3.58 2.81
2nd 1.89 1.89 1.55
3rd 1.28 1.28 1.00
4th 0.91 0.91 ----
5th 0.76 0.76 ----
Reverse 3.27 3.27 2.30

yep the final drive ratio is the same. The auto just makes the motor scream at higher speeds with the 1:1 3rd gear. It doesn't seem to hurt them as far as life of the rings/bearings it just makes the mileage suck over 55mph

Oh, ok, thanks for the help!

Someday, if I ever get the time, I'd like to buy a 3 cyl Metro and install a 4 cylinder transmission.

I'll practically be able to cross America on gas fumes...

Actually, to be 100% ideal, I'd want a 3cyl engine, a 4cyl transmission with a first gear from a 3cyl transmission. That way, I could have low revs on the highway, but I wouldn't burn up the clutch by slipping it a lot when starting from a stop.

Be sure to get the 8-valve's tranny, not the 16's. When Suzuki built 'em that way, they also had a milder cam for low-end efficiency, etc - the XFI setup. You can push it even farther with big, LRR tires and improved aero.

If you drop in an economy grind 3Tech cam and a 10 degree advanced timing gear, you can let up on the clutch without touching the gas and the car won't stall

Here you go............
