Does anyone use a Data Logger?

I'm looking for a system (cheap but effective) that will log what is happening on the car. OBDii, and works with the 2012 Mustang. I use an SGii and UG for instantaneous feedback, but would like something to track data over a tank, and to compare variables and what I don't notice over a tank.

Seeing what Diesel Dave has pulled as data logs, I would like to use something that I can review information with.

I would like the same and hook up an old laptop in my car.

ELM327 scanners can be used to read the data with just about anything, the biggest issue if finding a good program. Torque for Android is pretty good and it has data logging, but I haven't found anything free or cheap for Windows that is anywhere near as good.

8226 - CarChip Pro Automotive Logger

I really like this unit.

"CarChip Pro Logger Features
Record up to 300 Hours of Trip Details
Trip Details includes: Date/Time, Distance Traveled and Speed
Provides Individual Graphs and Summary Reports
Records Extreme Acceleration and Braking
Calculate Gas Mileage
Includes Software and USB Cable"

It seems that I plug the bad boy in, and drive. Pull it out, plug it into a Windows computer, and everything is uploaded. I can then do whatever with it. $100 doesn't seem too expensive for it, though it seems like the product is aimed more at monitoring a youth or a company vehicle.

I have read extensively on Ecomodder on the options, but no one has much on it. There is a lot on Torque (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...g.prowl.torque), but then I need a dedicated Android device, and then need power, and then have it flopping around the car. I have an SCii and a UG, so the appeal is small. I just want a [fairly] simple/easy way to track what is going on.

It's interesting to note my EOC and my FE with the engine on (second last tank was ~1/6 of my miles with the engine off, and I averaged 32.6 mpg with the engine on, aka accelerating/keeping speed), but I am so enamoured with the thought of graphing and being able to actually evaluate my data- temps, how long it takes to do what, basically everything the data logger would show.

Torque app is wonderful for data logging...however, yes, you need an android phone.

all you would need is
1)elm wireless bluetooth scanner $25 on amazon
2)torque app $5 on google play store
3)android phone
4)tell torque app what values to measure
5)after you do your runs...export everything onto excel

Thank you, I just purchased the unit above at a discounted rate. Will review and write up on it.

As mentioned above there apps that you can run on your smart phone via OBD to bluetooth adapter. There are quite a few that should give you everything you need.

If you want you can even run GPS apps as well.

The problem I have with the Torque + Android combo is that after 10-15 starts and stops of the engine it has trouble connecting and becomes useless. Not to mention heat issues this summer I would hate to have a melted lithium battery all over my car.
After using this combo for a year I'm ready to upgrade to a scangauge II.
