Hi, I'm a new member. :-)

Please point me to the right thread if this was covered somewhere else already.

I saw this idea: "TIGERS (Turbogenerator Integrated Gas Energy Recovery System) . Sorry I can't post links yet. It's from controlled power technologies.

My question is, wouldn't the increased resistance in exhaust gas flow also increase the fuel consumption? Any load, be it electric or mechanic, I put on the motor will decrease fuel efficiency as far as I understand.

6kW out of nothing (moving exaust gas) seems incredibly high to me.

the caveat is right on the page:

Our personal transportation vehicles run at medium to very low engine loads. This device is better suited to truck engines, stationary units, boats with fixed high loads.
Frankly it looks like a great thing to break or burn up or otherwise cause a mechanic like me, endless headaches.
