ninjaowen 02-24-2009 08:13 PM

Still cold here in North East but spring is fast approaching soon hehehe... love it

Frank Lee 02-24-2009 08:16 PM

Well I'M done with it! Out in Cali again for two months tee hee! Bicycling in shorts in Feb- gotta love it.

tasdrouille 02-24-2009 08:34 PM

Wait, why does the story stops at 50 below? The glacier is still pretty thick in Cantartica.

Snowing like crazy here right now. Sometimes we get an early Spring tease, but I never start believing winter is over here until May. I usually tell the kids that Santa Claus is probably going to end up delivering the Easter baskets. Even so, we have had snowfall in the middle of May quite a few times. Some wooded areas still have snow in June. And being next to the big lakes, the weather changes so fast it can go from one extreme to the next within hours.

MetroMPG 02-25-2009 04:08 PM

Frank, you lucky ....

Nice list, TC. Winter is a state of mind. I declared winter over about two weeks ago (OK, I started saying "the worst is behind us" to anyone who would listen.)

I've been out several times without my winter coat.

And statistically, the average daytime high here has been above freezing for a couple of weeks now.

Supposed to be unusually nice on Friday: +9C and sunny. Spring conditions for snowboarding!

i_am_socket 02-25-2009 05:08 PM

Hit 40F today after being below freezing with high winds the last couple days. Two weeks ago we had two days of 60F+ and it was amazing; I had bronchitis so I couldn't get out to enjoy it much. Then mother nature decided to be a &*&^* and took the warm away as soon as I felt better.

Done. With. Winter. http://spidermouse.us/images/smilies/furious3.gif

I am sick of snow. The weather channels are all bragging about the snowiest winter season record about to be broke, but frankly, I don't care anymore.

dcb 02-25-2009 11:10 PM

Sorry Johnny, but I've always loved the snow. Skitching, skiing, sledding, skating, and sliding around the corners, it's all good :) I would definately miss it.

Frank Lee 02-25-2009 11:22 PM

I like snow too, but I find it isn't all that much fun to be out in it at -25F.

TomO 02-26-2009 11:58 AM

I agree that the -20F temps we've had this winter in MN were annoying to say the least. that last stretch of 20s-30s has been really nice.

If MN winter never dipped below 0°F I could live with it easily...but then we would complain more about the 100% humidty 90+°F summers even more, lol.

I agree that the snow is fun to drive in, sliding around corners and making reverse gear U-turns in place.

jamesqf 02-26-2009 01:00 PM

Done yet? Out here in the west, we haven't hardly had any yet :-( I got in about 2 weeks of halfway decent skiing around the New Year, and a day or two after the storm last week, but that's it. I've been weeding the effing garden since January, got @#! crocuses blossoming...

IndyIan 02-26-2009 04:23 PM

My dogs are still outside at -20F. They cuddle up with the goats so they all stay relatively warm. It funny though how you get used to cold weather, at 32F I don't even wear gloves to do the chores outside anymore...
I have to say with livestock, I'm glad we don't get days of -30F with strong winds, goats aren't quite as cold proof as cattle or horses and you'd go through alot of feed keeping them warm.

Another "cold" story. A few winters ago we went to Cuba for a week and the first day we were there it was 70F and sunny, so we hit the beach... Not one other person was in the water which was a bit warmer than the air... We had a great time!

Well it's March 2nd, and Maryland is getting its first real snow storm of the season. A real snow storm here mean at least 3 inches.

They just plowed that parking lot 30 minutes before the photo was taken.

metroschultz 03-02-2009 12:31 PM

I don't mind, I just want to be able to fix stuff in the driveway again.

NeilBlanchard 03-02-2009 01:17 PM

Hi,

We got about 9" overnight, and it is still snowing now...it is fine and fluffy, at least.

i_am_socket 03-02-2009 02:55 PM

It stopped snowing 'round here, but it looks like I need to sweep up what got blown around. *grumblestupidsnowgrumble*

wagonman76 03-03-2009 12:46 PM

-25F yesterday morning, -20F yesterday evening and this morning. Daytime wind chill of well below zero. This has basically been a repeat of the winter of 98-99. Early snow, then occassional snow but dry bitter cold all the way till April. Too cold to do anything outside. Too cold to even heat the house with the woodstove without space heater assist. Back then we had advisories to keep water running too, because it was so cold for so long the water mains were freezing in many towns. I agree, I like winter and snow but the constant bitter cold really makes it a drag.
