Double din mpg reader

I am in the market for a double din stereo unit for my Jeep. I'm wondering if there are any with good scanguage like functions that members here use. I don't really want to get scanguage but I would be thrilled if there's a good stereo unit that would give me mpg readout under their OBDII functions.

Get an android stereo head unit and download torque on it... with an OBD dongle you can get a MPG readout on your stereo

That would be great because I use Android. I didn't know you can download apps into those stereo units. Very cool thanks!

What is the state of tech with these?

Is it wiser to get a good tablet and just mount that? Or is the stereo form factor beneficial?

I don't know of any name-brand headunits that run Android on the actual unit, so your only options are the no-name ones from Amazon or AliExpress. I would go with a headunit that supports Android Auto or a tablet/phone and mount with bluetooth/aux in if you want audio (what I currently do).

It looks like Torque doesn't work with the current version of Android Auto, but it could in an older version that allowed other apps to work.

I've seen some Android ones online. They aren't too pricey (like a couple hundred). I've seen other brands out there in best buy like Pioneer.

I really want one because they can have pretty much everything a tablet can have plus some. I've seen units with Bluetooth, DVD players, screen mirroring, GPS, a backup camera, and even an OBDII tool.

I would prefer the head unit over a tablet just because it looks better and doesn't require you to take it out each time you drive your car.

I tried to see what Wish showed, but they recently started requiring a login just to browse. I have only been to their site twice and I doubt that I will return, let alone order their questionable merchandise, and run the risk of receiving a dog toy, sticker, or who knows what else instead.

I am surprised that Android Auto only connects to Android, but you cannot run Android apps. Sure, you do not want drivers playing Candy Crush or browsing Wish, but why not Torque?

This guy replaced his stereo with an Android tablet: https://www.instructables.com/id/Tur...Car-Head-Unit/

Here's one I found on Amazon. It's smilar to one I would get but it doesn't have Bluetooth. I could always use screen mirroring if I can't get an app to work on it.

And it may be a while before I actually make a purchase and post pictures. I want to get my windows tinted (for $400) first so no one looks in my car and gets funny ideas. It has already been broken into before...
