Drag Racing Goes Electric Thanks to JEGS
I did a search and did not see where this had been posted before. Thought that it might be of interest.

I laughed inside. I found this item/topic by looking for a different electric vehicle and getting an image of an electric motor of size on the JEGS shopping website. JEGS Jr. Dragster EV Conversion https://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS/JEGS-Jr-...40786/10002/-1 I have no idea if this has any application to road going electric reverse trikes and cars, just posting as it strikes me as electrics going more mainstream. I was wondering how that "little" motor would manage to win races, without breaking that little chain...until I looked up the rules(and engine used) for junior drag racing...
Neat, and it's the better way to go, but not as out-there(crazy) as it first seems. |
The biggest one I have seen was 4 warp 13 motors motors running some ridiculous voltage like 400v.
Even in my small shole town there is at least one other electric car driver. Someone has a chevy spark ev. I wasn't sure it was an ev at first, then a saw the tell tail orange extension cord and evse in the back hatch. Poor guy is only charing 120v it appears. I call that beginner charging. |
The -9 is a fairly respectable motor. It will drive a decent sized car but not at blistering performance.
Back in the day my hotrod Harley used that chain, wore out & stretched really fast |
Racing is the pathway to wider EV acceptance.
Racing is totally practically and utterly Darwinian. Line 'em up and race 'em. You'll know pretty quickly what works and what doesn't. That's how IC engines became dominant. They raced 'em and worked out the bugs. |
