Driving with FE in mind, hard on emissions system?
Just got my first CEL @ 116K..
I hook my scanner up and it states a code 0420.. It defines that as "Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1)" bank one meaning the upstream (first) 02 sensor? I replaced that at around 90K and its a factory brand direct fitment.. hell, I even replaced the effeciency sensor as well (downstream o2) Does Hypermiling = harsh on the emission equipment? i know its just maitenance stuff possibly, but I donno, thought it mite be worth asking.. I think from the time a vehicle is purchased, theres what, an automatic 5 or 7 years warranty for emissions equipment or what? |
Didya check all these? I will say one thing, I've heard that in open loop, Toyota's run notoriously rich, which may result in a fouled Oxygen sensor. After I leaned out the AFM cog on the Camry the CEL, which corresponded to the rear bank oxygen sensor, turned off on a long hill climb and hasn't come back on for a few thousand miles.

mite be where my exhaust meets the exhaust manifold..
I have 1 stud out of 3 holding it in place.. Toyota cross threaded the fukkers from the getgo.. I dont want to dick with drilling and tapping, so i'm just going to roll getteo extreme and hit harbor freight up for a cheap pair of vise grips ;) |
That could do it. :D
|
that happens to me alot, exhaust manifold bolts:mad:
sometimes if there is room for a nut, i drill on through. |
I mite just do that..
the one with the snapped stud is accessable quite easily.. then 2 would be better than 1 (or a vise grip) lol |
