Dymaxion still in the news

Interesting link to Santa Cruz:

That's awesome. I'd love to see all that- the plans, the movie, car #2, and the replica.

The DelMar is right down the street, but I noticed that movie was shown Feb. 2012. This is info I could dig up about plans:

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Original blueprints; and my other hero, Sir Norman Foster, restored the interior of #2! I think they're past *original* and so they should have the flathead done with a new block from Motor City Speed Equipment or a French military block from Flathead City (I can't find it on their site but Google says it's there). [Zora Arkus-Duntov] ARDUN heads and a GMC 6-71 blower. :cool: The World's fastest Dymaxion!

In case you're not getting it yet, let me repost this another time:

Forget the flying car, I want an amphibian.

Does anyone out in ecomodder land by chance know the Dymaxion specs such as the curb weight, height, width, and length?

I know little other than that it had a Ford V8 engine with 85bhp and with its teardrop shape was able to get 30mpg. I would like to learn more about this vehicle so any other info you could provide would be great and much appreciated :)

The car was to be lightweight (about the the weight of a VW Beetle), economical, aerodynamic, and fuel efficient.
In 1933 wouldn't it have been the V8-60? Let us know what you find out.

1993 Dymaxion Concept Car Aerodynamic Analysis

Dymaxion Concept Car Aerodynamic Analysis | CFD | TotalSim Ltd

Quote:

Figure 2 is a ‘drag accumulation’ plot which shows hows the drag builds up along the length of the vehicle. It’s is interesting to note that the total drag of the car up to the front wheels is almost zero for the straight ahead flow and negative for the 15 deg yaw case. In other words, a significant amount of thrust is being generated around the front of the car which offsets the stagnation pressure acting on the nose.
:eek:

From their charts, 5m long, or 5.5 yards or 16.5 feet. Other sources say 20 feet.
