E3.10 Spark Plug for your Mower...What?
 

I was browsing every isle at Lowe's for incredible deals and when I stumbled into the lawn mower section I thought to myself "Wow, I haven't changed the plug in my mower since I got it (5yrs ago at least)".

So I started looking at plugs and saw one that claimed more power, better efficiency and fewer emissions (and lifetime guarantee). It was only $3+tax extra than the others, so I am going to go grab it and give it a run for its money.

If anyone else has heard of it and has it, how accurate are their claims? Is it worth the extra money?

So far I've done two mows, no noticeable power difference (don't think i'd notice .5 hp ever) but it sounds much better and I got two mows (mine and my neighbors) of the tank and still have enough left for maybe half a yard. Its hard to compare it to a 5+yr old spark plug though...

Its in an old Toro self-propelled mower with a 6hp Briggs & Stratton. It's the best mulcher under 6.5hp I've ever used :)

I have run them in mowers for a while they do start easier and consume less gas, never tried them in a car always wondered if theyd run as good

A few questions:

Did you gap the plug properly according to the specifications for your mower?

Are you aware of what gap the other plug had?

Are you aware of the materials used in the electrode of either plug?



The reason that I ask these questions is that the motors used for lawn mowers are governor controlled, but don't have variable ignition timing. Therefore, a colder or hotter spark would directly effect power and fuel economy. Colder or Hotter spark isn't necessarily determined solely by construction, it can also be affected by gap size, electrode density, and wear.
