Earth Day Mini Alt Car Show
Hey Folks!
This past Saturday I helped put together a small alternative auto show as part of our local Earth Day event. We had my electric motorcycle, a ZENN, a Zap Xebra, a Smart Car, some scooters, and a bunch of Hybrids at the event. The public got to go for rides in the ZENN and Xebra, and got to see the vehicles and ask lots of questions. Hopefully, we can do this again next year and have it be even bigger and better. I will post some photos of it soon. -Ben |

Here are some photos of the event:
http://web.mac.com/benhdvideoguy/iWe..._car_show.html We also had a biodiesel guy there and the local Culvers (burger and ice cream restaurant) owner who had a diesel truck that ran on french fry grease. http://web.mac.com/benhdvideoguy/iWe...s/DSC06097.jpg The Zap Xebra seemed to be the hit of the show. The dealer (shown) just took people out for zippy rides around the parking lot. I followed him on my cycle at the end of the day. Racing electrics is WAY too much fun!!!! |
Nice picture...I demand more without clicking through, :)

Not shown is the Veggie oil or biodiesel cars, the Milwaukee Hybrid group, the scooters, and several traditional gasoline higher mileage cars. |

There's a member at cmpg with a Zenn. I asked him to collect some kill-a-watt readings from his driving, but he wasn't interested. Anyway, sounds like a cool show. One of the big downsides to the one we'll be dragging the ForkenSwift to at the end of the month is that it's strictly static. No demonstration drives permitted (with or without passengers). Insurance thing. |
I am guessing that the ZENN is better designed than my cycle. Also, it is an NEV class, so it's limited to 25 MPH. Generally, the slower you go, the more efficient an electric is. Also, the ZENN is higher voltage than you car, or my bike, so that means less amps to do the same work.
All that said, I would love to see some real-world data of one hooked up to a Killawatt or other measurement! |
Sweet!
I want to do something like that around here:-) There's a Zap Dealer in New Orleans, for all I know there may already be something like that around here. Keep up the good work, you bike looks awesome. |
