Easy Mirror Delete Mod
7 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone, first post here. Just purchased new interior side mirrors so i could take off the outside mirrors. These mirrors were easy to install and can easily be adjusted. The 3M adhesive to retain the interior mirrors is ok. Not sure if it would hold on hot days, I may screw it into the plastic.

Welcome!
those are pretty nice! |
Thanks for the welcome!
I got the from Autozone for $5.99 each. They are Pilot Automotive brand. I'll upload a pic of the package it came in later today if you would like to see more details of the mirrors. |

Great job! I like the adjustable part. I do think they will have to be screwed in, but it's worth it for the benefit. CarloSW2 |

yay another person from Houston. (what part of town ) Yea auto zone part number will be great to post. So I can go get me a set.
|
Yup cfg83, they fell off this morning. The plastic on my door where i put the mirror is not flat, kinda has a slope so the adhesive didn't completely stick on. So I'm going to screw a hole into the mirrors base and the plastic on my door so i can use zip ties along with the adhesive for support.

just tryed autozone, no go for being on their web page. but did fine a site that had some like it but at twice the price at, ( pf-concepts.com ) $12.25 check it out.

I think this is a really cool, and perhaps workable, and even legal way to move
the side mirrors inside and out of the MPG robbing isssues around the A-pillar. For the most part, at least on the surface, it would appear that they meet most states minimum requirement of a view of the road to the rear of 200 ft... State mirror law summaries |
man I tried everything I could try on those pictures and still could not find them any place on the web. I even tried searching the UPC. the part number cont come up with anything. I did find that the AUTOZONE uses the factory part numbers as alternates. So maybe on the autozone receipt that you got will have the autozone part number.

i went to autozone today and looked and nothing on the shelf like it. also checked oreilly and nothing like it. search the web and came up with CIPA #11050, #11140. 4x8" and lager mirrors may work. also did any one check out PF-CONCEPTS.COM at the one thay have

I did a google maps streetview of the address shown on the mirror packaging, 764 Turnbull Canyon Road, City of Industry, CA. It shows a building with the name Pilot on it. If only I could read the url that's just below the address...
Got it. www.pilotautomotive.com Can't find this specific mirror, but Pep Boys, Wal-Mart, Sears, K-Mart, Advance, and O'Reilly also sell their products. I'm going to call their 800-237-7560 number and ask where I can get the MI-141 mirrors near my zip code. Got off the line. The Pilot customer service said to visit my local Autozone store, and ask the store manager to special order the MI-141 mirrors if they don't stock them. |
My local Autozone had these in stock--$5.99 each. However, the website did not show them, even after selecting the store.
|
My local Autozone had one MI-141 in stock, and located another in the other Autozone in town. I asked if they'd special order a second one for me, to save me driving around town. They ordered one from their warehouse, which should have been delivered today. I'll pick them both up tomorrow. $5.99 apiece.

f'ing sweet everyone and big prob's go to the OP.

Hi, I like your mod, I was wondering whether you removed the mirrors yourself? Is it difficult to do? Also, do the internal mirrors give the same field of vision as the wing mirrors?
Thanks |

Removal can be difficult if the screws holding the mirror on have been "Lock Tighted" or had some other adhesive applied. You might need to use a penetrating oil and use a hammer to loosen the screws before you try to unscrew them. If you strip the heads, you're screwed... :-/

I did a mirror delete today using the MI-141 mirrors.
Before. http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/..._0358Small.jpg After http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/..._0365Small.jpg Inside mirror views. I used screws to mount the mirrors. http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/..._0363Small.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/..._0362Small.jpg |

I got lucky that I have two Auto zones in town, both just had one. That double sided tape sucks. So when I get ready to make the areo mirrors I will just glass them in on the inside cap.
|
Here's how I screwed the mirror on.
http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/..._0366Small.jpg And here's what it looks like from the side. My inside trim piece is curved, too. http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/..._0368Small.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/..._0369Small.jpg |
In case anyone questions the safety of those little mirrors, here's my rear/side views.

So do you have two of the front mirrors?

They were shown in message 22 of this thread.
