EcoMod Lurker needing help with wrecked Civic HX

I want to introduce myself here and request some assistance now. I have been an ecomod Lurker for a while and now I need your assistance. I had wrecked my Civic HX and am afraid it will be totaled by the insurance company. It was the other persons fault and I am waiting for the insurance company to return with an estimate. I would like help from folks who have gone through this before and what I can do to get an appropriate value for my Civic HX. It took me along time to find this one and in good shape too. I would also like to know if anyone has gotten their car back from the insurance company after it has been declared a loss? Thanks for your responses.

One of the best ways to negotiate a price on your car with the insurance company it research more cars in the same condition and same model as yours and go to them with an average price. I'd try to find 5-10 cars to average. Make copies of all of them for evidence of price, mileage, condition. If your car is above average point out that it is and why, things such as low mileage, new paint, new interior. You could use want ads, eBay, Craigs List. If you want to keep the car lots of times an insurance company will offer you the option to buy it back from them for smaller settlement which usually isn't too much.

The insurance company stated they only consider private sales and not dealer sales, but most of the Civic HX are by dealers. There are very few HX for sale by private individuals and some are not in the best of condition as mine was. I have started to print out ads for cars that are similar to mine. Is there any other sources for value. I looked at Edmonds, but it doesnt seem to give a realistic market value.

Is the edmunds value too low? Are the private sale values way too low? How much damage has been done to your car and where is it (or what needs to be replaced)? Maybe you can throw up some pics so we could help you out. You can probably buy the car back for really really cheap and then fix it up (don't know if you have the ability/know how to do this). Also how are you feeling?

After I got into an accident (at the other person's fault), the opposing insurance company gave me a loaner rental car. In addition to this, I was sore in my neck and back for a couple of weeks. My sister was also hurt the same way since we were rear ended. This is where we were ripped off by the other insurance company. They settled for as little as possible and I think the occasional back discomforts I feel are caused by this accident. Hopefully they will subside though.

In other words, make sure you get yourself checked out and get a good settlement for your bodily injuries, a rental car (or the monetary value for having a rental which is usually $25/day) as well as the car getting straightened out.

When dealing with insurance companies a lawyer is worth it's weight in gold. Believe it.

6 items found for 'Honda Civic HX' in completed ebay listings

Note: You'll probably have to log into your ebay account to see the results.

If you're the distrustful sort -
  1. Goto ebay.
  2. Log into your ebay account.
  3. Select Advanced Search
  4. What are you looking for?: Cars & Trucks
  5. Make, Model, Year (Transmission)
  6. Enter Key word or item number: HX
  7. Put a tick next to Search title and description
  8. Put a tick next to Show completed listings only (see what they've already sold for).

Did you try Kelley Blue Book?

The HX was damaged in the front and more so on the passenger side. The headlight is smashed, the bumper supports broke, the radiator broke, the hood is smashed, the passenger fender is dented. The exhaust leaks when the car is started, so it must have broke near the header. The wheels or suspension didn't seem to be touched. It is all cosmetic or structural in the front. Mainly the passenger corner up to the back of the headlight. I am very handy, but am not sure about the welding that needs to take place to install the new parts. I would even consider putting the engine and tranny into another Civic.
