Electra Meccanica delivering Solos, but...
The Solo electric trike is being delivered now, but Electra Meccanica needs cash to continue production.See link.

Nothing new, thus far most trikes have been vaporware
Hopefully this steers away from Elio territory |
Hopefully it is smothered in the crib.
$18.5K per passengerhttps://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3FIqbuDfx...s1600/Solo.jpg https://suddendisruption.blogspot.co...andard-in.html This doesn't look like a platform that lends itself to varied models for niche markets (last-mile delivery, etc.) It's less cost than the three-wheel drive Nobe, but do they have Sandy Munro onside? |
Electra Meccanica has decided to add a new model with some cargo space. I don't know why they didn't put this cargo capacity into the original model.

226 liters is 8 cubic feet. That's a 2 foot cube.
The Deliverator has 15 cubic feet without compromised aerodynamics. And it can ace the 40% offset frontal collision test. |
The only advantage I can see for the EM Solo is that it would be more weather resistant in winter. The Arcimoto seems better in so many ways.
They have only produced about 40 Solos. How is Arcimoto production going? |
I still don't know why major auto manufacturers wouldn't do trikes if there was a market for them. A mass produced trike should cost like $7,000 considering a 4-wheeled Mirage goes for $14k and had to undergo plenty of safety and environmental regulatory testing and certification.

I did the homework

At $7000 I'd want the FUV instead of their Platform 2. |

https://cdn1.polaris.com/globalasset...1c&format=webp For reference - Polaris made a 5% profit margin in 2019 so it isn't like they could drop the price and still make money. It always cracks me up when a start-up claims they will make vehicle for less than large players with huge economy of scale. (Honda's cheapest UTV is also a 500cc and sell fro $8500. Cheaper is possible if you build offshore and import) |
Perhaps this is the best thread for this:
