Electric car fail!!!

1 Attachment(s)
Coming over a hill I spied this guy along side the road charging an electric car.

This is an Epic fail because...

1. He pulled over on the wrong side of the road to do his charging.
2. He now has to back out into traffic to get back on the road ( Note traffic will be coming over a blind hill ).
3. He could have parked on a road side pull off 500 yards back.
4. He is driving an electric car out in the country.
5. He hauls a gas generator around that has a gas tank that vents into the passenger compartment and isn't designed to survive a crash.
6. The extra weight of the generator probably reduced his mileage enough to keep him from getting the next two miles to town

amusing. I like your MB.

Interesting! Given that set of details, he must have been planning on going farther than what the batteries would allow, and a person would wonder just what gave way to cause the unusual parking spot.

Thanks, The Germans do build great cars don't they? I see you enjoy their work too. :)

Well I have learned it is usually the ones that think they have it all figured out that get themselves into a bind.

Normally if I have someone with me and have the time I stop and help people. The problem is I couldn't help this guy. He was at the mercy of the battery charge rate. Besides, if I did stop it would be two cars in a bad spot menacing the rest of the traffic.

An all-electric vehicle with a gas generator 'option'. Hilarious!

BTW MB's might be okay but don't get me started on Bosch so-called electronics.

How far off the road does the guy need to be? I see cars parked on tight shoulders much closer than that.

Your post gives the impression you don't like electric cars... If I had one and was stretching the range I might carry a small generator too, at least the guy is trying and was prepared.

You would like my MB. It has no need of electronics other than the ignition key.

Its not that he parked on the shoulder. Its that he parked on the shoulder on the wrong side of the road and that to get back on the road he has to back out into traffic that is coming over a blind hill on a highway. The fact that he could have pulled over off the road on the right side of the road just 500 yards back shows that this idiot cares far more about going 500 more yards on one charge than he cares for his own safety or anybody else's safety.

Also I would like to point out that this is no small generator he is lugging around with him. It is about 3 ft wide and more than 2 ft tall. It also has about a 5 gallon tank on it. The car he is driving has no trunk so this 5 gallons of gas vents into the passenger compartment and will spill there if it is ruptured in an accident.

Usually people who use this size of generator are a construction contractor. This guy has bought this generator to try and create his own half ass hybrid. If you want to haul excess weight of an electrical cars batteries and a generator fine. Please don't park in an unsafe location to recharge especially if a safe place presents itself just a little ways before your batteries expire however. This guy is a menace and deserves to be ridiculed.

Are you sure the guy was going in your direction when his batteries gave out? To me it looks like he was going in the opposite direction, made a very sharp turn into a

If that was the case why didn't park his car so that its front end is where the generator is then he wouldn't have to back out on to the highway when he was done charging? Also if he did come from the other direction why didn't he stop at the park with the nice parking lot 2 miles back from where he came?

This guy isn't very bright no matter how you slice it.

Are you sure it is an electric car? From the picture it seems like a normal small car to me. Maybe his alternator is bad and he is charging the battery with the generator when the car dies. He would have very little choice in where to pull over in that case.

It looks like he has enough room to just pull straight back out on the road either way without backing onto the road. There is lots of room behind him to back up on the side of the road if needed and pull back out normally. It is a little car so it is easy to turn around in tight spots.
