Those all-electric conversions into classic cars are not my cup of tea, but no doubt it's an impressive job. BTW one thing that I still consider quite weird is to see those older cars retaining a manual transmission when they're converted to electric. Well, since an electric motor isn't supposed to stall like a gasser (or Diesel) does, the clutch becomes pretty much redundant (I have even seen pictures of cars converted to electric that had their clutches removed).

Depending on motor interface, the clutch is used to speed up the shift time since you dont have all that motor mass to synchronize to the gears. Otherwise you don't use the clutch. That's how I do it.
Since, in theory, my armature explodes above 5000 rpm, gears are handy to have. |
