Ouch! Did he say 25k MORE then the regular cooper? If they could bring the price down to around 25K they would sell like hot cakes. The Prius proves that folks will spend a little more for the numbers.

The interesting thing, though, is that it's only 25k more for the whole system. If they built a dedicate car with the same specs it would likely be around 35k, I think. And that's a pretty impressive range in my opinion. People are waiting years to spend 100k for the telsa and these 50k ready made EVs are already running around...

Yes the range is quite impressive and is more than adequate for the 95% of the average drivers. It just a shame that that price tag puts it out of most people price range. I know they will come down once the demand is there it just a shame that it's not what auto makers are working on now. I'll just have to wait for the EV Smart :turtle:

This is actually on the front page of the Sam's Club (bleh) holiday catalog, so it will be getting some good press and hopefully the price will start to plummet.

mini coopers parts are way expensive because the older ones are collectors and the newer ones...well new parts are expensive..

Holy necropost Batman! ;)

I like the original Austin Mini, its design is still among the smartests. Lightweight, with a nearly maintenance-free suspension.
About the current ones: an all-electric version of the Mini Clubman could be a good opponent to the Nissan LEAF, retaining some cargo room which is still a decisive factor for many owners. |
