eliminating the radio cutout when restarting?

Trivial I know as most restarts are bumped, I had hoped with the PB starter sw that it wouldn't be a problem but I guess the starter pulls to much juice:confused:. Is there a diode or capacitor I can wire in to keep the current flowing?

you might need an actual battery to keep the radio glitch free (i.e. off a little scooter or something) and connected to the main circuit with a hefty diode.

...instead of a separate battery, you MIGHT be able to get away with using one of the readily available "super capacitors" commonly used by the BOOMBOX boys/girls.

...with the proper "sizing" (in Farads) the voltage will come-ON and fade-OUT like the interior lights do on newer cars (assuming the radio isn't one of those that needs a "keep-alive" voltage so it can remember station settings, etc.).

Depending on your car's behavior, it might be as easy as jumpering the +BATT wire to the +ACC wire on the radio (terminating the +ACC wire to the vehicle, so it doesn't back-feed the rest of the circuit)

I just rebuilt the ignition switch (annoying slide-engagement mess) on my 92 Tempo and during starting, the +ACC circuit is disengaged entirely & re-engages when the key returns to RUN. I have to assume this behavior is typical.

The downside to bypassing the +ACC circuit for your radio is that it won't turn off by itself when you turn off the car entirely.

Personally I just leave the car running at stop lights and accept the fuel being burned as par for the course.

it's all in the key switch it cuts the radio, head lights and anything else that is not needed to give more power to the starter, it might also be hard on the radio to have the voltage drop so your radio might not last as long, a capacitor in there with a diode would take care of all of this and still let your radio turn off when you take the key out, otherwise a push button starter button would bypass the key switch that turns the radio off.
