Thanks for asking; the perfect tiny house -- 35ft R-license park model trailer. Max length to be able to just hook up and go (although this example has been on the County tax rolls for decades) but no holding tanks.

Not a recreational Airstream, It was built by their subsidiary Mobile Industrial in Santa Fe Springs, CA, in 1962 for the Southern Pacific railroad. An aluminum tube with fiberglass end caps.

edit: No pictures of the Fortress of Solitude, but here's an identical one:

Mine has a bare metal interior with white wallpapered partitions. Window-hung air conditioner.

Did I mention I paid $900 (in 2002 dollars)?

I remember when a scrapped 727 was moved away from the airport in my hometown. On a sidenote, I guess you know the pressure cycles are quite hard on the airframe, so when it's retired it's quite predictable the price would go way down...

The 747 nose section (the part lufthansa raises on their cargo hauler) could be transported by rail. Saw several greenies on a train going through Tehachapi which had many height/width restriction tunnels. Oddly 737 max are almost as big.

Burners transported a whole 747 front with landing gear on Nevada Highways, but there's few bridges and tunnels on the route.

Bunch in boneyards going for aluminum scrap prices, landing gear doubles the price.

My son lives right adjacent to the Sea-Tac airport. I've told him he could hire a crane to lift a section of fuselage over his house into the back yard.

For his dear old gray-haired daddy....

Probably cheaper to build a granny shack. Improves the resale value, too.

Crap, now you put "cover of the rolling stone" song in my head on stuck replay.

Overbuilding it to an aviation-grade safety degree would be a different matter...

Pretty sure there's no aviation spec for houses.

Maybe there should be.

We have often quoted Bucky Fuller's question: How much does your house weigh? He first asked it when trying to market his very light Dymaxion House and later asked it of Norman Foster.
