English newb
Hi all,
Found this site yesterday after a bit of surfing for FE tips. What a great resource. I've always been into eco driving. Many years ago I had an old VW Passat GX5 with a vacuum operated MPG guage that I could regularly get +36mpg(US) out of its 2 litre engine  Currently I have a 1.1i monopoint Citroen AX for the long commute to work as gas prices here are now at £1.09 a litre ($8.30 for a US gallon) so eco is very necessarry!! I used to work for Ford as a powertrain development/calibration engineer on the small diesel car product line, so have 10 years experience of engine management systems, emissions testing, FE and other related stuff. I'll be undertaking the basic mods to the AX to increase mileage, then looking at options for going even further in the future. I want to keep the car as stock looking as possible, so boat tails and the like are out. I currently achieve 52mpg in UK gallons, which is just over 43 USmpg. Looking forward to learning more from you all Steve |

Welcome
Welcome Steve-
First, nice choice of vehicle! Research tells me that an '89 1.4L AX Diesel is in the record books for one of the most economical vehicles produced. How is the 1.1L in comparison? I look for forward hearing of your expertise in Diesel powertrain engineering... ..and best FE to you  RH77 |
$8.70 a gallon. Yikes! How far is your daily commute?
