EPA Vehicle Data
 

Hi guys,

I'm new here.

I think knowing the EPA fuel economy data is the first step of saving gas, but then it was quite tricky to find my car's data.

I published an android app called "EPA Vehicle Data", which is a simple lookup chart.

You can simply select year, make, model, and power train options to get your EPA vehicle data include fuel economy.

The app does NOT collect any information from your device, and it is free.

If you have any idea to make this app better, please let me know.

What exactly was the challenge with fueleconomy.gov? I didn't time how long it took, but I did notice I didn't blink while I was looking it up- so less than two minutes, in a casual manner. I find EPA FE numbers are pointless to the being of a car, rather they are better used to compare two similar cars under the same circumstances.

It may be useful for users to be able to compare vehicles on the application.

It is not a challenge with fueleconomy.gov if users access the page on full-size computers, but it is a bit challenging for first-time users if they use mobile devices. fueleconomy.gov is designed for full size web browser, and it does not redirect automatically to fueleconomy.gov/m.
Since this is the first app that I published, I think this is a good starting point.(so I can add more useful functions later on)

Check out fuelly to see what owners are getting in their cars. Beware of counting the average as realistic, there are always a few whose gas log ruins the averages. Then look at ecomodder's garage to see what is possible, but understand that one thing you don't know is average speed. You might consider a members fuel log as unbelievable, but if their average speed is half of mine at 40 MPH then aero drag is reduced by the square root as a good comparison of watt hours per mile.
