News: Nissan to launch electric car in US by 2010

Thin on details, but this isn't the first time Ghosn has publicly said the company is more interested in pursuing EVs than hybrids.

Quote:
Renault-Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn says Nissan will launch an electric car in the United States by 2010.

...

Mr Ghosn said new legislation in California aimed at cutting CO2 emissions gave extra impetus to research into alternative energy sources and products.

I doubt it. Nissan owns (part of?) Renault, which has a history of battery EV production vehicles (not hybridized). I'd bet they'll be looking at a small city car type vehicle based on lithium ion.
