EVCO (Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa) meeting tonight

I know there are more than a couple of Ottawa/Hull members and lurkers, so wanted to post this reminder of Ottawa's monthly meeting tonight.

I'm back in the 1000 Islands, so I'll be going up for this one.

EVCO holds monthly meetings, normally on the last Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m., at the Canada Science and Technology Museum, in the Green Room. The Museum is located at 1867 St. Laurent Blvd, Ottawa. Visitors are welcome to attend.

The Post-meeting meeting happens at Tim Hortons on St. Laurent Blvd sometime after the adjournment of the regular meeting. Find us there to continue the talk about EVs and current events.

FYI

This evening we are expecting a special visit by Transport Canada representatives from their eco-Technologies for Vehicles program. They will present their test results from their Hymotion Conversion of a Toyota Prius (plug-in hybrid)as well as the test results from their Vectrix Full-Electric Motorcycle.

They expect to bring the Prius for us to examine at the break. Unfortunately the Vectrix is out of town at the moment but hopefully they will be able to bring it to a future meeting.

Matt: nothing new to report regarding the Hymotion Prius. It's a brand new vehicle for them (4k km on the clock) and it's got the 5 kWh pack. The rest of the info/discussion can be gotten from the corporate site.

Transport Canada will be using it to evaluate fuel consumption on the dynamometer, running the standard cycles, but starting the Hymotion pack from 100, 80, 60, & 40% states of charge to view the impact on fossil fuel consumption.

The MOST interesting thing learned is that the vehicle will be disposed of at public auction following its evaluation. :)

FYI, next EVCO meeting is Monday evening (see post 1 for time/location/directions).

Not sure what's on the agenda for this one, but I'll post if I find out before then.
