Ever have one of those days . . .
when just about everything goes your way?
Yesterday the weatherman said to expect clouds, fog and maybe some sprinkles in the morning, with clearing in the afternoon and a high near 60. Instead it was clear all day and the temp on my car's thermometer on the way home was reading 67. I filled up my car's tank on the way to work BEFORE the price went up during the day. Normally it goes up just before I need to fill up. On my drive home the traffic was a little heavier than usual but flowed well and I found an 18 wheeler that was happy to punch a hole in the air for me most of the way home. When I got home I checked and for the 78 miles since the mornings fill-up I had averaged 34.2 MPG! Not bad for a 3.4l Impala. I could use a few more days like this! :D |
Thats damn good for an Impala. My friend in SD has one and never gets over 25.
Now you need to go and get a lottery ticket, quick... |

In general my MPG has been tailspinning because of weather and being off my drive pattern. Too much life-stuff going on to get good MPG. CarloSW2 |
...since retiring, the "high-milage" driving to-and-from work has been traded for "short-city" trips to the grocery and drug store, which has KILLED my 40+mpg days!
...lucky to get 35 mpg now! |
School is killing my MPGs. I'm lucky to get 20MPG on the 1.7 Mile trip. That's why I bike whenever possible.

All good things must come to an end.
Well, I had to fill up this morning, in the rain. Fortunately the price of gas had come back down.
I had a total of 393 miles and used 11.4 gallons for 34.4 MPG. Not bad:) |
