Ever See One of These?

Owosso Pulse. What kind of mileage do you think this baby gets?

Someone building them today would get rich!

SuperTrooper -

I haven't seen them in real life, but I think they're shown in a "trike thread" somewhere around here.

That one on e-bay looks clean. Too bad it's almost $14K.

Mileage probably better than most but I doubt they would be considered legal for higher speed roads on safety reasons.

I saw them back when Popular Science was writing about them - Ben Kocivar was still reviewing aerospace stuff at that time - and I actually saw one, exactly one time, in real life. It turned across my path, I did indeed slow down to watch it go.

A lot of the current owners have done silly things like add airplane tails to them. Shameful.

I suspect there are limited numbers of them for good reason. The cornering dynamics make me cringe.

I think I ran into one of those ... literally. :o

Over a dozen years ago, as a volunteer firefighter, I responded to a house fire call. It was the garage that was going up. We suited-up and attacked carrying a 2 1/2" hose through the breezeway and as I charged forward into the dark and smokey garage, I hit something with the large (rubber-coated) nozzle. It turned out to be a silver Pulse. I don't think I damaged it much ... if any. I got a pretty good look at it afterwards ... when they pulled all the vehicles outside during overhaul.

And, we were so good, so fast, we extinguished the fire and save almost the entire contents of the garage.

Looks like part of a glider. Did the pilot survive? Wheres the wings and tail?

Aero has to be awesome. There were some old cars I think from Germany kind of like that.

In the '80s there was one of those driving around in Austin, TX. Insurance agent used it, and his office was on the MoPac freeway. It was licensed for legal road use.
