What antifreeze for '97 Civic HX?

What antifreeze? Pretty simple question. Do not want to buy on internet so it has to be available in Wal-mart, Autozone or O'riley.

I've never had cooling system issues on any car unless there have been other issues (head gasket leaking or something). I know some people say this or that only, but I just get the 'universal' stuff and it seems to work fine.

O'Reilley's in house brand premixed green. I have been using it the last three years, and just flushed the system with it. Works fine.

I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

I just flushed the cooling system in my 2010 honda insight and had the same issue. The car came with blue honda fluid. Turns out off the shelf was fine. I used peak 50/50 premixed from advance auto. I preordered online and got 15% off, picked up in store. Also got a new t stat.

Depends how long you want to go util your net coolant change. Glycol (green) is good for 2-3 years; organic (orange or the Honda blue) is good for 5+. If you switch types, flush the system with water until it comes out clear before putting the new stuff in.

I generally go 100k between changes unless we get bad weather, then I'll just change it at about 50-70. I drive 20-30k miles annually so 3 years is about 100k for me anyway.

Thanks for the help guys, if I can find Honda blue I'll probably go with that if it's the right price

It use to be Honda was unique in its requirement for a non silicate coolant in its vehicle. Now days all or almost all coolant is non silicate coolant.

Could you possibly give me a link to the kind you use? The 150k mile thing is attractive to me as it means I can go the entire timing belt service period without having to change it, makes life easy when I can just change everything at once.

[Edit]: Nvm I see you posted it above. How much does it cost do you know?

This stuff right?http://m.oreillyauto.com/mt/www.orei...0496&ppt=C0059
