When I saw this '91 US-spec Toyota MR2 for the first time, I was told it had once been property of Paulo César "PC" Farias, a long-gone businessman who had political ties with former president Fernando Collor de Mello. Not sure if that was true, but anyway, this was the only MR2 that I have ever seen in Brazil, and according to an uncle of mine who lives in Salt Lake City this is also rare stateside.

There were times when it was easier to spot a Lambretta in Porto Alegre, but I don't remember having ever seen any of this earlier model on the street.

This one was featured at a motorcycle show in late September or early October last year.

According to Wikipedia, they sold 27,941 in North America: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_MR2
I have seen a few, but not many.

There was a box van ice cream version down the street from me for a while that had a VW Beetle engine in the back.

Don't forget I'm in Brazil, so I have even seen even a Citroën Traction with a VW Beetle engine shoehorned in the back. Due to clearance issues, still seems to have made more sense than Chevy 153 engine swaps with RWD conversions which used to be quite common around the 70s or 80s when older imports were worth nearly nothing.
