Familiar Cap?

I seen a Hummer H3T commercial the other day and noticed the cap on it. Reminds me or the "Aerocap" on the F-150 floating around on here.

haha that is so ugly! With the boat on top, and the massive amount of stuff sticking out into the airflow, it's a shame they're using this as the first mass produced vehicle with an aero cap.

Talk about putting lipstick on a pig.

That cap looks alot like the F-150 cap Bondo came up with. Bondo did say he was in "talks" with a manufacturer about mass production of the aerocap...but that was only a week ago in the thread. He refers to the "talks" with the manufacturer on the 10-17-08 post.

Here's the thread...

I remember some Army Hummers with the same angle quite a while back.

I forgot about these! I do wonder though, if these vehicles actually attain attached flow on these parts. It seems as if the whole vehicle could be in detached flow area.

No no, I know the real deal has them, I meant the brand. I thought GM had basically discontinued them.

But gas prices are down, clearly people still have a need for a $75,000 monster truck to never take off their suburban pavement?

If I have some down time at work I wanna see what kind of aero hummer I can come up with... Might go from 10-15 mpg too :p

I think you may be correct on that one.I put a model of a HUMVEE in my small windtunnel and all it showed was turbulence.

FOURWHEELER magazine (Nov. or Dec. issue) reported the H2 has been axed.

a couple other companies are taking the axe to larger rigs (like the Nissan Titan HD)

for those not up to speed on the GM alphanumerics

H1 - military type (that looks more aerodynamic running in reverse)
H2 - huge poser-mobile (usually occupied by one skinny blonde, or a doctor, and maybe one small child)
H3 - smaller, cuter poser-mobile

Tony, despite your accuracy, you wouldn't make much of a GM sales/mark rep.

I watched a round-table discussion ~2 years ago that included the marketing manager of Hummer. To quote her nearly directly: "Nobody needs a Hummer unless you drive through deserts and uncleared mountain passes, which 99.999% of people do not. They're big expensive toys, and people want them so we sell them and give them options."

Fast forward to today and what's this? Nobody wants them? Imagine that.
