Fan clutches and or grill blocks?

IMHO, not worth the hassle once $ spent on new clutch, you could be close to buying a separate electric fan. Eliminate mech fan, replace with junkyard electric. Either manual switch or if fancy, grab a tstat for it.

I think it would be prudent to just slightly reduce the percentages of your grill blocks.

You'd be better off taking off that fan and changing over to an electric one. It would give you more control over when the electrical fan turns on and also would reduce the drag the mechanical fan puts on the engine.
I have an open grill area and took my fan and shroud off completely. I tested it during the heat wave and it does not overheat but I don't think I wold block off the grill area until I get an electric fan setup. |
if you don't want to change over to an electrical fan; i'd suggest re-evaluating how much you have blocked and where it's blocked.
i adjusted mine from having one strip of each grill insert empty to having the top half filled, and it stopped my mechanical fan from turning on. |
