KammBack question for those who did the mod

I haven't read all the success stories but have noted a lot of concern over rear window visibility -- I am interested in KammBack mods and question whether anyone has road test data with the rear face closed off vs a fully open rear face. I have a thought that a fully open rear face might be just as effective, and possibly even better than a closed off rear face -- anyone have any data??

IIRC the best results come from the closed Kamm tail. The open boattail has been done too with some success. You may want to repost this in the "Aerodynamics" section. Search this forum for "box cavity". That may be close to what you are describing.

Had great luck with my kammback on my festiva. It is open but got me my best tank of 52MPG. Previous best was 42 or so. It's worth it.

The best part is my visibility was only reduced about an inch at the very top of the window.

No I didn't. Not really worth the 1-2% gain I think I would see if any. I like being able to see. I'm at 52MPG on the highway and hope to hit 60 MPG. If i can't achieve that with a few other mods, I may revisit a longer and enclosed Kammback.

Well, people have suggested purchasing cheap poster frames and using the clear plastic for ecomodding. It certainly would be a decent prototype.

Was the best mod I did to date for MPG. I used clear plexi and liquid nails to kinda glue it together. Works wonderful
