Festiva?

Anyone here have one? Theres a 93 for sale down the street. Guy first said $600 but then $500. I dont think I would give him more than $400, and I would start at $300. Its got 167,000 miles, and no rust, but some dents. I dont really care about the looks though. It started up really really easy and ran really smooth. A little noisy under the hood but nothings noisier than a a chrysler 2.5. The lil 1.3 was quiet compared to those.

What kinda mpg could I expect? It is a 5 speed. Very basic car. No power steering. 12 inch dubs.

Of course, I could always drop a 1.6 turbo mazda in it, I saw a festiva running 13's in the 1/4 with one of those. Sweet.

Or make my own SHOgun. no.

Automatic or manual?

I had a friend in college who loved Festiva's he had one on the road and one for parts, did a lot of engine/exhaust etc. work to it and consistently got 45-50 mpg with the little bugger. I don't believe he had any aero mods either, just took as much weight as he could out (read stripped the interior except for the aftermarket leather seats) and got the engine running as efficient as possible.

Sorry I was reading in a hurry. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/mpg/MPG.d...rue&details=on
EPA shows 33 combined, seems really really low to me.

bhazard 06-12-2008 11:51 PM

Thats because they are the "revised" EPA ratings.

Theyre bogus.

According to them I should be getting like 18 mpg in my cars. I could get 20 mpg doing 100 mph...

yes

I had one, it was quite enjoyable in the sense of riding in a roller skate. No cushie ride there. 40+ mpg and usually closer to 50, if I recall correctly.

It was a 5 speed, in rougher shape then the one you are talking about here, but still pretty okay and fun to drive.

Not a bad choice if you can live with it. I would say it is probably better than driving a Smart car at least. :)

snap it up, flip it somewhere else when someone complains of mpg and sell for $1000.

There are 4 on Ebay right now ranging in price from $700-$1,300 with bidding left, I think $600 is a good deal if it runs.

Around here there's been an Aspire disabled on the side of the road with the hood up for over a week now. I'm sure it would need dried-out with all the rain (and whatever repair it needs). I'm not sure what happens if it gets impounded. If it's truly abandoned, maybe the impound fee gets it out, or some sort of Police Auction.

The reason I bring it up, has anyone looked at Public auctions (other EB, CL) for cars like this?

No Rust? I would even jump on it for the $600. If you could get it for less great!

I averaged 46mpg in this one:http://www.gassavers.org/garage/view/421

Even with no mods you should get 40mpg without trying hard.
